Religion
Hinduism and Buddhism are the two important religions in Nepal.The majority of the population are Hindus but the religions are closely intertwined and many nepalese adopt both religions at the same time.Buddhists are mainly found along the northern border area and in the eastern part of the country.Hindus are most numerous in the south and west.

There is a small number about 3% of the population are Muslims. Mainly concentrated along the border with India.
In Hinduism, there are three gods who are most powerful. Brahma, Bishnu and Shiva. Brahma is regarded as the ultimate source of creation. Shiva has a creative role along side his function as a destroyer.Vishnu in contrast,is seen as the preserver or protector of the universe.
For most hindus today, worship(often referred to as performing "Puja")is an integral part of their faith.The great majority of hindu homes will have a shrines of various hindu gods.So they can perform puja every day.Indivuduals and families often visit shrines or temples on special occasions.
Buddhism is founded by Buddha(Siddartha Gautam).Who was born in Lumbini.In Nepal.About 563 BC.Buddism is followed by 10% of the countries population.It is believed that from Nepal, Buddhism has spread all over Asia.
